Wayne Schepens is a veteran technology and cybersecurity communications leader and the founder and managing director of LaunchTech Communications, a Baltimore-based PR and marketing agency focused on emerging and security-focused technologies. Over more than two decades, he has advised growth-stage startups and established enterprises on positioning, media strategy, and go-to-market programs that elevate visibility in crowded markets. Under his direction, LaunchTech expanded into a multi-million-dollar firm and earned recognition as a leading, rapidly growing PR partner to companies across the security landscape, valued for its specialized focus and tenured team.
Mr. Schepens’ expertise is grounded in hands-on technical experience. Earlier in his career, he led a cybersecurity software company and supported organizations including the Naval Surface Warfare Center and the United States Military Academy, work that deepened his understanding of emerging threats and mission-critical technologies. He earned a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the State University of New York Maritime College and a master’s degree in engineering from Virginia Tech.
An active contributor to the cybersecurity ecosystem, Mr. Schepens is a mentor and advisory resource to accelerator programs such as Mach 37 and is a frequent presence at major industry conferences, including Black Hat and RSA. Residing in Severna Park, Maryland, he is also committed to community and family life, coaching youth baseball and supporting health-focused nonprofits such as the American Heart Association and Food Allergy Research and Education.
